Raymond Reynolds Ltd was established over two decades ago to supply the cream of Britain’s wine trade with the most fascinating single estate wines from Portugal.

Whilst Dirk Niepoort’s extraordinary ports and Barbeito’s unique Madeiras make up quite a slice of all business, unfortified wines from Portugal are certainly on a roll with good wine merchants and restaurants at the moment.

Additionally, we also distribute Portugal’s top (organic) olive oil, a selection of outstanding Spanish wines and Tuscany’s Ampeleia.

We always knew the potential would one day be realized. In the last 6 years growers and winemakers have surpassed expectation in the quality and consistency of the wines they produce. This makes things doubly exciting as we are only at the start!

Regionally the Douro is king with an impressive set of quality estates, but elsewhere too individual winemakers are proving the country isn’t a one region or varietal trick.

Red wines have seen great improvements,  but the rise of white wines has been spectacular, capturing the imagination of drinkers and  capitalizing on the waning dominance of international varieties. Rosé’s too are now both fun serious and happily have a terroir rather than commercial bias.

Our view is that Spain has still much to offer the UK market, from both outside and inside Rioja and Cava. Yes these well known brands have driven the Spanish wine industry so far, but veering off the beaten track reveals some inspiring hidden gems.
