The main grape for this punchy and characterful red is Jaen (Mencia). It shows brambly fruit on the nose and has elegant energetic flavours. Current Vintage: 2009 This is probably the finest Tinto so far. Fashioned from Touriga Nacional, Alfrocheiro and Tinta Roriz this red sets the benchmark for the estate’s red wine. Tank fermented and aged for 6-9 months in new ans seasoned barriques, it has a deep and black fruit intensity and combines silky texture with elegant flavours and freshness. Reserva Current Vintage: 2007 (shipped to order)
This is wine comes from the old Pessegueiro vineyard, a typical field blend of Dão red grapes, aged in new barriques and allowed to mature sometime
in bottle. 2007 produced a storming Reserva from Roques, with elegance, structure and granitic-rich fruit all tangled up beautifully. Current Vintage: 2010
This is a blend of the finest Tourriga Nacional wines made at the winery, aged in new barriques. It is an intense and broody red, with firm yet sweet tannins and complex
flavours. Consistently rated as one of, if not the, benchmark Touriga from Portugal. Current Vintage: 2011
This refined and elegant white is made from the Dão’s finest white grape, Encruzado. Part barrel fermented and part tank, it combines
intensity of dried apricots, fresh hazelnuts and definite flavours with great balance. Jaen Current Vintage: 2008 (shipped to order)
This is the pure varietal red from the oldest vines and shows all the halmarks of dried herbs and brambly berry fruit with refined intensity and freshness on the
finish. Named as one of Julia Harding's Top 50 Portuguese Wines in 2012. |
